Boldly Go

Images via Fashion Gone Rogue

When I first took off for my vacation, I thought I'd enjoy not having to think about fashion for a little while. The sneaks-and-tees honeymoon was short lived, however, as even on my days off, I can't help myself - I'm a fashionphile. I yearn for my closet at home, filled with my favorite full skirts and high heels. Maybe I'm remembering it a little too idealistically...when was my closet ever full of full skirts or high heels? In my dreams, perhaps.

In the meantime though, I think this spread from Vogue Latin America July 2013 will certainly, featuring seemingly everything my pajama-clad body would like to be wearing - punchy, perfect prints, ostentatious heavy metal accessories, luxurious fabrics, and my favorite cherry on top, an unapologetic bold red lip. The entire spread is sexy, sultry, eye-grabbing, and anything but effortless. This is me.

Tadashi Shoji - Formalwear Picks!

Like any girl, I love a good kickback day in palazzo pants and a light tee, but also like a lot of other ladies, I love the opportunity to get dressed up and feel like a fashion-forward queen. When I'm invited to formal events, my usual style is to go for an old school movie star store of glamour - I'd rather be classy and classic than too revealing. I'd rather wearing the kind of beautiful gown that doesn't make a big deal of itself, than a eye-popping printed number.

While in my dreams I don Dolce & Gabbana and Valentino, on earth my options are a bit more limited, which is why I love designer Tadashi Shoji so, so much. Though not exactly pocket change (gowns can run for over $500), they are relatively cheap while equally as otherworldly as some of the dresses that parade down those designers runways. As I prep for another fancy affair, here are a few fancy frocks that caught my eye as I iShopped ;).
1. I love how very Valentino this delicate dress is! 2. Simply design and a va-va-oof color, this dress is a TKO
3. A stunning flowy frock fit for a queen-me (Ah, to be a queen) 4. I would totally, totally get married in this dress if it were white...and if I were getting married anytime soon

Instagram Lately: Italy

Did you know the name of this blog is inspired by the song by Beirut called "Postcards from Italy?" In all honesty, I was expecting to love Spain more than Italy, but Italia simply stole my heart and took my breathe away. Obviously, a lot of it had to do with delicious Italian food, but also magical cobble stone streets, Italian accents, and flower boxes. My favorite city was Rome followed by the endlessly beautiful Cinque Terre. Venice was stinky, dirty, and overall disappointing, but I am glad I saw it anyway. For more deets on these pictures and more of my adventures when they come, follow me on Instagram.

What I'd Like to Be Wearing: Overalls and Nike Dunks

Classic black dress / Brian Lichtenberg cotton t shirt / Theory blazer / NIKE shoes / Black leather handbag / Linda Farrow Luxe aviator sunglasses / OPI nail polish

In Italy, I was won over by sneaks. Italians, mostly young folk, wear sneakers a lot in Rome, probably because they walk so much and the cobble stoned streets are hard to manage in heels. I was amazed at how many people were wearing sneakers, in particular the Nike Dunks and on occasion Adidas Sambas. After seeing them enough, all styled to the Sartorialist-worthy perfection, I was sold. The other trend that's recently wore me down? Overalls...which isn't at all surprising considering how much I loved them through my childhood and adolescent years.

Instagram Lately: Spain

Hi from Egypt, guys! Many thanks to those of you still lingering's it going?

My much anticipated European adventure is over, sadly. I'm currently posted in Egypt trying to get some quality time in with family and friends before I head back to California on the 1st. I have some down time here though, so I wanted to share a few photos from my trip and, shortly, re-jump start all portions of my blog except for the outfit posts. I have no clothing here so it's really impossible.

Of the two countries I visited (Spain and Italy), Italy is the one I really fell in love with. But for now, I am showing you Spain, and in particular the cities of Madrid, Cordoba, Granada, and the island of Menorca. My favorite in Spain was Granada, particularly the Alhambra. Feel free to follow me on Instagram to see photos from my Italy trip and follow me in Egypt. For now, I'm signing off as Postcards from Egypt ;)
