I'm very much aware that I'm never going to be a mega blogger and I'm fine with that. I traveled so much this year and it was amazing, but as a result I didn't have the time to update this blog as much as I liked...besides, no one wants to see me in hiking shoes and sweats! However, I do love this blog. It's so much fun for me to look back on my outfits and see how my style has or hasn't changed. These are some of my favorite outfits from this year...I hope you like reading this blog as much as I like writing it!

Happy new year!

095: Hitting the Max

 photo bdg-jeans-hm-coat-house-of-harlow-1960-warners-boots-emily-sunglasses-panther-1_zps70b5ed04.jpg photo bdg-jeans-hm-coat-house-of-harlow-1960-warners-boots-emily-sunglasses-panther-2_zps6f245ed5.jpg
Beanie - Forever 21, Both plaid shirts - Mossimo (yup, Target), Coat - H&M, Sunglasses - House of Harlow 1960 "Emily" in Panther, Jeans - BDG, Bag - purchased in Paris, Shoes - House of Harlow 1960 "Warner" Boots, Lipstick - NARS "Cruella"

Since I've been back from my travels, I feel like I've really mastered the art of wearing denim stylishly. Most days I wear jeans with either these black House of Harlow 1960 booties (so Alexander Wang looking!), or a similar brown pair by Kork-Ease. I love them because not only do they look adorable, they have a leather upper, leather lining, and leather sole which means they're fairly warming.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I announced a week or so ago that I'm pretty much wearing beanies for the rest of winter. Well, I wasn't joking! The funny thing is, after complaining about how hats don't usually look good on me,  Kathleen told me just a week or so before that I should try wearing beanies. I guess she was right!

So what's the title about? Well, I feel like this is the most patterns I've ever mixed (four including my sunnies) and I'm pretty proud of myself because I think it came out pretty well. Now I want to challenge myself to mix five. Unfortunately, that sounds a little too crazy even for me.

Dries Van Noten Spring 2013 - Still Notable

Dries Van Noten isn't the -est anything. Not the biggest name in fashion, the highest fashion, or the necessarily the "best" fashion, in that it isn't the most wearable fashion for all people across the board. But there was something really special about Dries Van Noten Spring/Summer 2013, because almost a year after its release to stores, we're still talking about it and I am definitely still thinking about it. These images are my top 15 looks from the season, and the ones I am hoping will still inspire my purchases and manner of dress for the coming year. Nothing captured my mind like this since Charlotte Ronson in 2011 (though when placed side by side, Char Ron ain't got nothing on Dries). The layering is impeccable and clever, the patterns are aggressive and aggressively mixed but don't clash, and can we please talk about that perfect pink lipstick?

094: Pumpkin

Skirt - Sparrow, Sweater - Cynthia Rowley, Trench Coat - Kay Unger, Necklaces - Urban Outfitters & Gorjana, bag - Purchased in France, Sunglasses - Ray-Ban Wayfarers, Boots - Bearpaw

This outfit makes me feel oh so autumn...like a pumpkin! I think it's the mix of chunky knits (skirt and sweater) and some of my favorite fall colors - burgundy, burnt orange, off white, beige, and brown. I got this simple fold-out tote while in France and I am obsessed with it's simple but smart design - the inside is fantastic! My only regret is that I didn't buy it in black because it definitely would have become my go-to black carry-all if I did!

What I'd Like to Be Wearing: Architectural

I Dreamt I was an Architect

La Garçonne Moderne crew neck sweater $425/ J.W. Anderson short grey skirt $650/ Polka dot hosiery $20/ Charlotte Olympia flat, $745 / WGACA leather purse, $3,500/ Casio digital watch, $76 / ASOS earrings, 5.34

I love how architectural this skirt is! Also, I really, really want a Chanel and it seems like this is never going to happen for me (*runs away, cries*).

093: Leather on Leather (Fall is HERE!)

 photo andre-heels-kay-unger-trench-coat-house-of-harlow-emily-sunglasses-cameo-pin-2_zpsf571d725.jpg photo andre-heels-kay-unger-trench-coat-house-of-harlow-emily-sunglasses-cameo-pin-1_zps737c76b9.jpg
Trench Coat - Kay Unger, Leather Jacket - Michael by Michael Kors, Leather skirt - H&M, Sunglasses - House of Harlow 1960 "Emily" in Panter, Shirt - Moda International, Cameo pin - Vintage, Shoes - Andre (purchased in France), Clutch - purchased in France

I know I was MIA here for a while thanks to my travels (see them on Instagram), but I'm back, and guess who else is? FALL! In terms of activities, I definitely prefer summer to fall, but I find it really hard to dress for summer fashionably, especially when I am backpacking Europe, which is what I did for most of this summer. With the return of fall, we return to more interesting styling possibilities. I couldn't wait to try to wear my leather skirt with my leather jacket without looking like a biker chick, and I think I succeeded. I am also eager to buy burgundy lipstick and wear colors like burnt orange, camel, off white, black, burgundy, and navy. What are you guys most excited about for fall?

What I'd Like to Be Wearing: Embellished Skirt

Black and Gold

Gestuz black jumper, $155 / Emanuel Ungaro patterned skirt $2,165/ TIBI peep toe booties $220/ Jérôme Dreyfuss leather shoulder bag $1,015/ Karen Millen geometric jewelry, $105 / Gorjana neon stud earrings $30

Isn't this embellished skirt TO-DIE-FOR? At  $2,165, it's never going to happen for me, but do expect me to be wearing a lot of black, white, and gold this fall. Yay!

In other news, I am going to Mexico City tonight to fulfill a dream that has existed within me for about 12 years. I am going to experience the Day of the Dead, also known as Dia De Los Muertos! I have my trusty film camera in tow as that was always part of the dream, but be sure to follow me on Instagram for Insta-snaps!

YouTube Monday: #Hashtag

Hi guys! I just got back from my month long trip to Spain, Morocco, France, Croatoa and Bosnia and all I can say is whoa. I had a wonderful time but I am traveled out and I couldn't be happier to be home...which gives me mixed feeling about the fact that I am going to Mexico for Halloween and Halloweekend. In any case, this blog will be back in full swing soonish, and in the meantime, enjoy this hilarious YouTube vid about hashtags. SO me.

092: My New Favorite Dress

Jacket - Italy, Sandals - Urban Outfitters, Dress -2b Rych, Bag - Vintage Coach, Sunglasses - Ray-Ban

I picked this dress up in Seattle a few weeks ago and it's quickly moved onto my favorites list. As a maxi dress it's a pretty noncommittal way to get dressed and even look dressed up with pretty much no effort. Some would say it is best fit for a wedding...personally, I think it's best fit for a sunny Sunday :)

What I'd Like to Be Wearing: Moto

Chloé blue shirt, $760/ Blackmeans quilted jacket, $2,420/ Rebecca Vallance pencil skirt, $350 / Proenza Schouler black sandals, $323/ Cameo jewelry $4.25/ House of Harlow 1960 cateye glasses, $168/ Topshop lipstick, $16

I recently bit the bullet and bought a nice leather moto jacket after years of trying to find a fake that looked like real leather, minus the price tag. It's such amazing quality that I don't regret it...I can't wait to show you guys how I'd wear it!

Music Monday: Pale Shelter

What an amazing time I had in Seattle celebrating the marriage of two of my close friends! I apologize for the lack of updates here - as part of the wedding party I was in Seattle for a lot longer than just the wedding and things were, as they say, cray.

One of my favorite things to do when I visit Seattle is take a walk in the morning and get coffee alone. My friend who I visit usually wakes up much later than I do, so I don't have a whole lot of choice on the alone part. Anyway, she lives in a happening neighborhood called Capitol Hill and I frequent Cafe Vita for my morning coffee. The coffee is fantastic and so is the music selection.

So one morning, as I got my medium coffee, this 80s song blared from the speakers and I shazamed it right then and there. And I really like it and have been listening to it, and a number of other weird 80s tunes, pretty much non-stop.

That's the sweet little story behind this song...hope you like it too!

What I'd Like to Be Wearing: Leather Shorts

Blue dress as top, $31 / Valentino leather shorts, $500 / Etsy Brown flat shoes, $28 / ONE by En Shalla Fringe Crossbody purse, $218 / Lanvin black hat, $3,900 / Wayfarer glasses $9.99, Rolex watch

I'm coming to realize more and more that I prefer dressing for colder months to warmer ones. Also, I think leather shorts are a wardrobe essential.

091: Jacket from Italy

 photo bdg-jeans-forever-21-patent-oxfords-ted-baker-embossed-tote-2_zps3ee4416b.jpg
Jacket - Purchased in Italy, Shirt - Vintage, Jeans - BDG, Shoes - Forever 21, Bag - Ted Baker, Sunglasses - Chloe "2145", Socks - Target

I picked up this quilted faux leather jacket in Italy, just outside the vatican, because I was cold my entire trip and was tired of wearing the ugly hot pink fleece jacket I had brought, which I intended to only sleep in. The funny thing is, ever since I got back to the states, I can't seem to stop wearing it - it's surprisingly warm for how thin it is and it goes with everything!

What I'd Like to Be Wearing: Waiting for Fall

Ready for Fall

Topshop print shirt, $70/ Kirrily Johnston / Gianvito Rossi pointy-toe pumps, $860 / Marc Jacobs red purse, $1,655 / Karen Millen butterfly bracelet, $99 / Linda Farrow cat eye glasses. $730/ Gorgeous Cosmetics lipstick, $25

While I love summer activities more than any other season's, summer happens to be my least (or second least) favorite season to dress for. Bring on fall!

Skirt - Minkpink "Angelina", Shirt - no brand, Watch - c/o La Mer, Sunglasses - Ray-Ban, Clutch - Cooperative, Sandals - Charlotte Russe

I am absolutely obsessed with my new maxi skirt by Minkpink called "Angelina." It's such a lovely and light material. The color is called "natural" and it is the perfect shade of sand. This combined with the loose style and high waist make me feel like I glide, not walk, when I wear it.

Top - Vintage (soooo similar on sale at Zara right now), Fuchsia maxi skirt - Gap, White Blazer - Zara, Shoes - Jeffrey Campbell, Necklace - House of Harlow 1960, Sunglasses - Chloe "2145", Bag - Vintage

Another recent outfit with one of my beloved maxis (this one also from Gap). I feel like my style is becoming sleeker...but really, who can tell at this point?

One thing I do love about this blog is going back and seeing all the outfits I wore over the last year or so. Some I loved then and still love now, some I was loved them and don't love now. Regardless, it's me. And it's fun watching things change.

What I'd Like To Be Wearing: Marni

Marni print blouse / E L L E R Y black high waisted shorts, $370 / Chanel toe cap / Zara purse $80/ Nordstrom nail polish

There's a special place for my heart for Marni (and Chanel, which goes without saying).

088: Half of My Gap Maxi Skirt Collection

 photo Cobalt-gap-maxi-skirt-python-heels-leopard-belt-vintage-leather-italian-doctors-bag-3_zpsf36ba866.jpg photo Cobalt-gap-maxi-skirt-python-heels-leopard-belt-vintage-leather-italian-doctors-bag-2_zps0c3e915f.jpg photo Cobalt-gap-maxi-skirt-python-heels-leopard-belt-vintage-leather-italian-doctors-bag-1_zpse1f24fc6.jpg
Top - Vintage, Cobalt Maxi - Gap, Belt - secondhand, Python/mesh heels - Adrienne Vittadini, Bag - Vintage from a flea market in Rome, Sunglasses - Ray-Ban

I was feeling two animals at once when I came up with this outfit - hence combining leopard print and my python heels (both of which I should really wear more often). This skirt is a maxi and it just has the most unflattering gathers around the hips, so I hiked it up, tucked in the extra fabric, and belted it to create a defined waistline. The purse is one of the spoils from my trip to Italy. A perfect doctor style in a perfect luggage brown in nearly perfect condition, I am absolutely in love with it.
