Fashion Month, as some call it, is in full swing right now as fashion's most die-hard insiders have moved from New York over to London. It's hard for me to pick favorites right now because there is still so much to see, but here are a few collections and items that stood out to me insofar...

Sunglasses - Vintage Balenciaga, Dress - Aqua, Cage top - Cameo
Unfortunately, this is the only photo I can find of my outfit for New York Fashion Week day 3. It was on the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Facebook page and was received better than I thought it would. Don't get me wrong, this was my favorite outfit of the week and I completely loved wearing it, but I was certain I would be perceived as a freak.
Anyway, I'm off to go camping tomorrow morning! Try not to be too jealous that I'll be spending my whole weekend swimming in a river ;).

Sunglasses - Miu Miu, Blazer - J. Crew (sold out but similar and cheaper here), Cap-toe Heels - Beau Coops for Karen Walker, Denim Shirt - Acne (similar here), Tote - Burberry Prorsum, Necklace - Modcloth, Skirt - H&M
My apologies for my silence this week! Things have been busy and it's understandbly hard to juggle so many things at once. I wasn't able to take any outfit photos last weekend won't this weekend as well because I am going camping (!!!!), but I will do my best to keep this blog nice and healthy.
Anyway, for today's what I'd like to be wearing, I'm seeing an ensemble of mostly blues, a little leather, a little denim, a little plaid, and a whole lot of amazing sunglasses. Gah! Love Miu Miu!

The top photo was by a dude named Blake who was working for V Magazine, and the bottom is an Instagram shot I stole from Ria. On New York Fashion Week day 2, I wore an outfit I described as freak meets chic. On this day I went to shows like Nicole Miller and W118 by Walter Baker. I had lunch with Amy from Chictopia and went to see a few of my out of towner friends in the evening at a bar which served sweet potato fries.
The best part of this day was just as I was leaving. Three middle school or early high school kids came up to me and asked to take my photo because they liked my outfit, and then they asked me to tell them why I decided to dress like this...what inspired this? I told them that was inspired by kids I see in the street who wear creepers and have green hair, but I am also inspired by the super editors, I'm 27 and I read Vogue. So this is my interpretation of those two things together.

Lately I've been really into the idea of fuchsia trousers, especially with khaki, since fall is coming in. I think they're a great way to keep the color going into the new season, and mix some girliness with some menswear.

Shoes - Ramon Tenza, Skirt - Vintage, Shirt - Crossroads, Necklace - JCPenney, Sunnies - Ray-Ban, Bag - Vintage Coach. Images thanks to Kinetic Portraits.
This was my outfit for the first day of my first fashion week. I have been to New York during fashion week before and even peeked at Lincoln Center, but never had an invite to go in. Since I became an editor at Chictopia, suddenly that became an opportunity for me. Through a weird series of events I ended up rooming with Ria on the Upper East Side, just blocks away from the opposite side of Central Park. On my first day I attended BCBG Maxazria, Kimberly Ovitz, and Tadashi Shoji. O actually had a chance to interview the designer Kimberly Ovitz just an hour before her show, and you can read that here. My favorite was BCBG Maxazria. I've long been a fan of BCBG Maxazria, but I think part of it had to do with the fact that it was my first show of my first fashion week. The music was amazing. I understand now how runway shows are such a big deal. It's so much more than the clothing...it's like a theatrical performance.
After my shows, I walked to Magnolia's and Shake Shack and had a burger and banana pudding. I put on my roll up flats and walked clear through Central Park and then took the train the rest of the way home. The shoes in the photo are sometimes what I refer to as my torture heels. I was so tired. But it was a good day. It felt so amazing to be inside Lincoln Center after having stood outside it, wishing I could be inside. As I arrived 15 minutes like for the BCBG show, I have to say I had a rush of adrenaline as I made a dash for the center's stairs while three or four photographers had their lenses pointed at me. This was the real deal. I was there. I was really there.

One of my favorite songs of all time, which was released the year I was worn. I'm not embarrassed to say I like the Cure.
In other news, I got back from NYFW courtesy of Chictopia yesterday and man, what a whirlwind! Attending Fashion Week was one of the most tiring and amazing things I've done in my life. I think I'll tell you guys about it as I post the outfit photos, which starts tomorrow. Hope you are all super well!

Or, who knows, maybe I'll finally cave and pick up a cheap-y pair. Also, to be fair, I have paid full price for one of my sunglasses, my House of Harlow 1960 Emily sunglasses. I did it in the name of New York Fashion Week, and it was worth it.
