049: Pencil Me In

Photobucket
Purple Quilted leather Jacket - In Add Minus (more than double the price but this
one is amazeballs), Lace shirt - Forever 21, Ivory button-up - Vintage (similar here), Ivory Sleeveless Jacket - MM Couture (similar here and here), Earrings - Forever 21, Draw-on Clutch - Cooperative via Urban Outfitters, Pencil Skirt - vintage (similar here), Shoes - Mossimo (Yes, Target), Sunglasses - Chloe (similar here)

I can never say no to a pencil skirt. Especially in a fun color. Especially for $2.

Current Obsession: Gorjana Jewelry

You may or may have not have noticed that I have a particular affinity to Gorjana jewelry. I was first introduced to their jewelry line via a gift in my LuckyFABB swag bag from last Fall. I was into hefty statement jewelry at the time and actually scoffed at the necklace at first, but I kept it anyway. Slowly but surely, my style has changed so that now, more often than not, all I want to toss on with any outfit is that dainty tassle necklace. Since then, my statement necklaces have remained in their boxes and I build all of my "What I'd Like to Be Wearing" posts with Gorjana jewelry.

It's funny - as I've got older, I see my jewelry taste has become almost strictly designer. I have a massive jewelry collection ranging from Vanessa Mooney, House of Harlow 1960, Amrita Singh, all the way down to flea market finds, H&M pieces, and some Forever 21. But for how much wear I get out of the pricier pieces (and how little I wear the cheaper ones), I am going to continue investing. I'd love to grow my collection of nOir and Joanna Laura Constantine, but alas, those are two designers I love that insofar have proven to be unattainable.

Girl Crush: Hanneli

Images via Vogue.com, Hanneli

Hanneli is a model turned street style photographer, though I often wonder how she finds any gratification in her work. Surely, wherever she goes, she is the best dressed person there, right? She knows how to rock a crop top, and boy am I jealous that I didn't think of that palm tree-leopard combo. But then again, I bet it wouldn't look nearly as good on me. Heh.

048: Staple the Label

Photobucket Photobucket

Shoulder cut-out dress worn as shirt - Staple, Skirt - Vintage (sort of similar here), Sandals - Deena & Ozzy, Foldable Wayfarers - Ray-Ban, Leopard Belt - Thrifted (similar here), Watch - Vintage Timex, Necklace - Vintage, Bag - Vintage  Coach

I got this amazing coral shirt-dress from my work the day after Thanksgiving. It's been hard to figure out how to wear it, besides, you know, just alone as a dress. I recently discovered it makes for a great shirt under a sheer skirt. It's by a brand called Staple...another form of Australian amazingness.

What I'd Like to Be Wearing: Non-Trashy Denim Skirt

Non-Trashy Denim Mini

Shirt - Tara Jarmon, Necklace - Gorjana,   Wrap Around - Alice + Olivia, Skirt - Jigsaw, Sunglasses - Ray-Ban, Watch - Emporio Armani, Cap-toe Heels - Beau Coops for Karen  Walker, Bag - Reed Krakoff "Atlantique," Gold nail polish - Deborah Lippmann "Boom Boom Pow," Green Nail Polish - Sinful Colors "Open Seas," Cameo Pin - 1928

I've always thought denim skirts were trashy, but if you can find one in a medium to dark wash with sleek stitching and buttons, like this one...well, then you're safe!

Also, two new obsessions: Sinful Colors Nail Polish and cameo pins. Sinful Colors is available at drug stores for a whooping $2, but the colors are so current, and I made it an entire week without chipping (and even then, I removed it for a new color, not because it looked bad). Cameo pins..just too cute for words.

047: Modern Day Annie Hall

Photobucket Photobucket
Plaid shirt - Xhileration, Sleeveless jacket - MM Couture (similar here and here), Leopard Belt - thrifted (similar here), Pants - BCBG Maxazria, Foldable Sunglasses - Ray-Ban, Draw-on Clutch - Cooperative, Sandals - Deena and Ozzy, Cuff - House of Harlow 1960 textured tribal cut-out cuff

A few observations:

-Why do they call these things "Sleeveless jackets?" Isn't that just a vest
-Plaid shirts are as basic as white tees, in  my opinion
-Also, a leopard belt is a basic, in my opinion
-It was rather cold this day, in case you were wondering why I was so layered and in flannel

Music Monday: Annie-Dog

One of my favorite songs to listen to as I drive back from the beach...which is a place I find myself at more and more frequently these days.

Love for Ashish Spring/Summer 2012

I've been meaning to blog about Ashish's spring/summer 2012 line for ages! The UK-based (but Indian) designer is known for his use of sequins, sequins, more sequins, and an affinity for American pop culture. I have been smitten by this line, because it brings together elements of the French country side and 90s grunge. I love the berry lips used through out, the flowers in the combat boots, and the combinations of brick and floral prints.

What I'd Like to Be Wearing: Ruffles and Running with the Kitties

What I'd Rather Be Wearing: Ruffles all Over
Denim Shirt - Acne, Ruffle skirt - Valentino,  Heart necklace - By Boe, Sunglasses - Gucci, Green cat flats - Charlotte Olympia, Ruffle socks - Topshop, Ring - By Boe, Leopard belt - Dorthy Perkins, Bag - Boohoo, Nail polish - Essie "Navigate Her"

By now you may have figured I'm making "What I'd like to be Wearing" a weekly feature. I use Polyvore quite frequently for work (heh, life's tough, eh?) and so I've gotten pretty good at using it, whatever that means! What I'd rather be wearing today is a mix of extreme girliness, more kitty themed stuff, and a denim shirt. I'm not sure where my current obsession with kitty stuff came from. Maybe it's those amazing shoes! Also, another current obsessions I have long known about: Ruffled ankle socks. Must buy a pair soon - what an easy way to amp up an outfit!

046: Clad in Plaid

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Top - Banana Republic (similar-ish here), Plaid Printed pants - Daughters of Revolution, White blazer - Zara (similar here), Necklaces - Thrifted & Etsy, Heels - Karen Millen, Clutch - Kimchi Blue, Sunglasses - Ray-Ban
I wish this outfit had photographed better, but it was getting a bit gloomy! Right now I'm obsessed with a few color combinations, particularly blue and purple together...wish a dash of green (ugh, wish you could see my green pedicure!). Anyway, hope you enjoy my cray cray plaid pants as much as I do. It's so rare to find trousers in a skinny cut, and I'm completely obsessed with these.

Music Monday: Ava Adore

Lately, I can't get myself to stop listening to Smashing Pumpkins, especially their album "Adore." Oh how I miss the 90s.

I have been pinning my favorite looks from Resort 2013 to my style board, and I realized what I had been pinning are what I consider to be the highlights of Resort 2013...and my favorite outfits within my favorite lines. Can you tell which is my favorite line above all? Reed Krakoff Resort 2013...oh my God. I have to admit I had not heard of the brand before, but I love, love, love the streamlined pieces the resort line features. Obviously, they'd be meaningless if they didn't come in such punchy colors - bold orange and cobalt, all parred down (and sometimes not) with an extremely nude nude.
