007 Shades of Fall
Sweater - H&M, Dress - Staple, Jacket - Charlotte Russe, Shoes - vintage, socks - Target, bag - Bally via Crossroads, Necklace - Crossroads, Sunnies - Ray-Ban
Winter is upon us, but I am stuck in mixing muted, earthy tones. I wore this outfit to have coffee with a friend a little while ago. Personally, I think a military jacket is a girl's best friend. I wear mine with nearly everything.

006 A Vision of Ivory
Blue button up - Izod, Cardigan - thrifted, skirt - Lauren by Ralph Lauren, Clutch - Cooperative, Oxfords - Franco Sarto, Necklace - vintage Trifari via Crossroads, Lace shirt - Forever 21, Sunnies - Chloe, Rings and watch - vintage
I think it's really important to fit the occasion of whatever you're attending, and it's always better to be overdressed than dressed. Wore this to an important meeting and my co-worker told me I looked like "a vision of ivory." I like that.

004 Cut It Out
You may have thought this was one of those normal sweater-over-button-up outfits.

Cut Out Poncho - One A, Boyfriend jeans and blazer- H&M (similar here), Mary Janes - Calvin Klein, Jewelry, watch and button up - vintage, Sunnies - Ray-Ban, Purse - Vintage via Crossroads, earrings - Forever 21
You were wrong! It's a weird cut-out poncho. Normally, I don't really dig ponchos. Don't get me wrong, they can definitely be done wrong as long as they're not those tacky multi-colored ones from the early 2000s, but I just don't care either way. I am, however, a huge fan of cut-out anything, so I had to get this thing. At $8 on the Macy's clearance rack, I couldn't really pass up the challenge. I am eager for warmer weather to see how else I can wear it though...

Currently Coveting: The Ones
I'm pretty sure Ms. Walker had me in mind when she designed the ones. These puppies scream me. The only shapes my face can take are Wayfarers and cat-eyes, and I am a sucker for black and white. Sure, I wear color now but there was a day when I only wore black, white, gray and beige. See my first outfit post. I'd drop $180 if these limited edition sunnies existed anywhere. I may just settle for the neon version. Bah. It just isn't the same.
Another alternative is the House of Harlow 1960 "Emily" in panther, a mix between a Wayfarer and cat-eye with a black and white pattern. They're not quite the same, but they exist at 80s Purple for $168.

002 I Heart Char-Ron

Sweater - Charlotte Ronson via Crossroads, Bag - Kenneth Cole New York, Socks - Target, Jeans - J Brand c/o, Hat - H&M, Shirt - American Apparel, Oxfords and belt - thrifted, Sunglasses - Ray-ban
By now you may have realized my taste is rather eclectic. I have a pretty clear vision of what I like. It goes like this: Some days I like to look polished, and some days I like to look like a 90s teenager (but most days I am squarely in the middle).
In my last post I went on raving about Charlotte Ronson's 2011 lines. They really, really appealed to the grunge girl inside of me. Well, I am the lucky owner of this yellow Charlotte Ronson sweater which is so current (Fall 2011) it actually blows my mind. It's amazing how big it is to me, especially since it is labeled as a size small, but no matter. I love how comfy and grungy it is, and it happens to have a serious liner should California ever get cold.

The Golden Era
Charlotte Ronson shook grunge out of its state of sleeping in 2011 with gorgeous girls clad in throwback 'fits, all with an ironically sexy twist. It was like Angela Chase and Kurt Cobain had many, many beautiful babies, and they all happened to be girls. Mega babe girls.
With just a little bit of seriousness, it's no secret that I love 90s grunge. Sometimes I have days where I want to dress like Angela Chases' other best (you know, the one never introduced in the show), and sometimes I just try to infuse a little bit of grunge into a more polished work outfit. Heavens knows why. I was just a wee child in 1994 when Kurt Cobain committed suicide, but I find great comfort in the music of the early 90s, especially Nirvana. Rock was hard, fashion was anti-fashion, cool was decidedly not. I realize trying to dress like I came from an early 90s TV show won't actually change the time I live in...but it's all a girl's got!
